UNITED NATIONS: North Korea鈥檚 foreign minister told world leaders Saturday that US President Donald Trump鈥檚 insult calling leader Kim Jong Un 鈥渞ocket man鈥� makes 鈥渙ur rocket鈥檚 visit to the entire US mainland inevitable all the more.鈥�
Ri Yong Ho called the American president 鈥渁 mentally deranged person full of megalomania and complacency鈥� with his finger on the 鈥渘uclear button.鈥� And he said Trump鈥檚 鈥渞eckless and violent words鈥� had provoked 鈥渢he supreme dignity鈥� of North Korea and 鈥渞endered this sacred UN arena tainted.鈥�
Ri鈥檚 highly anticipated speech to the General Assembly鈥檚 annual ministerial meeting fueled the fiery rhetoric between the US president and North Korea鈥檚 young leader.
Trump threatened in his speech to the 193-member world body on Tuesday to 鈥渢otally destroy鈥� the North if provoked. Kim, in an unusual direct statement to the world, responded pledging to take 鈥渉ighest-level鈥� action against the United States.
鈥淣one other than Trump himself is on a suicide mission,鈥� Ri told the assembly Saturday. 鈥淚n case innocent lives of the US are lost because of this suicide attack, Trump will be held totally responsible.鈥�
Ri suggested to reporters Friday in New York that his country could conduct an atmospheric hydrogen bomb test to fulfill Kim鈥檚 vow to take action. But he did not make any mention of such a test Saturday.
He did say that North Korea鈥檚 recent successful 鈥淚CBM-mountable H-bomb test鈥� was part of the effort to complete the country鈥檚 nuclear force.
鈥淥ur national nuclear force is, to all intents and purposes, a war deterrent for putting an end to nuclear threat of the US and for preventing its military invasion,鈥� Ri said, 鈥渁nd our ultimate goal is to establish the balance of power with the US鈥�
The foreign minister鈥檚 opening remarks reflected the deep anger in the Democratic People鈥檚 Republic of Korea 鈥� the country鈥檚 official name 鈥� at Trump鈥檚 derisive nickname for Kim who is revered by many people in the North.
Ri said that during his eight months in power, Trump had turned the White House 鈥渋nto a noisy marketing place鈥� and now he has tried to turn the United Nations 鈥渋nto a gangsters鈥� nest where money is respected and bloodshed is the order of the day.鈥�
The North Korean minister called Trump a 鈥済ambler who grew old using threats, frauds and all other schemes to acquire a patch of land鈥� and said he is even derided by the American people as 鈥淐ommander in Grief,鈥� 鈥淟yin King,鈥� and 鈥淧resident Evil.鈥�
鈥淒ue to his lacking of basic common knowledge and proper sentiment, he tried to insult the supreme dignity of my country by referring it to a rocket,鈥� Ri said. 鈥淏y doing so, however, he committed an irreversible mistake of making our rockets鈥� visit to the entire US mainland inevitable all the more.鈥�
